Subaru Loves to Care Initiative Donates Blankets and Well Packages to DMC Oncology Patients
Introduction
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Central Valley chapter has partnered with the Subaru Loves to Care initiative and Subaru of Modesto to donate eight boxes of blankets and “well packages” to Doctors Medical Center oncology patients. Chemotherapy patients often get cold during treatments, and blankets can provide comfort during the session. Additionally, they serve as a visual reminder that there are people who care about them.
DMC Cancer Care
DMC Cancer Care is an accredited Commission on Cancer-approved program by the American College of Surgeons. Their multidisciplinary team of oncology-certified registered nurses and nurse navigators coordinates various treatment options, helps with medical team communication, and connects patients and their families to local resources and support services. DMC also participates in a cancer registry that collects data on cancer type, stage, and treatment results.
LLS and Subaru Loves to Care Initiative
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Subaru of Modesto partnered with local hospital cancer treatment centers, like DMC, in June to donate warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope written by retailers and Subaru customers to support patients facing cancer. Subaru also matched donations dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 for those who donated to LLS.
Donating to LLS
Those who wish to donate to LLS can do so at lls.org/Subaru. The donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Subaru up to $100,000. Donating during June is especially meaningful, as it will support the Subaru Loves to Care initiative.
